Some golf shopping in Athens

Trying the new clothes on

Trying the new clothes on

At the very first day of our Georgia tour last year, on the route to Athens from Atlanta, on the half way we saw a huge PGA superstore and noted it on our to do list on top. As a limited experienced golfers and coming from a country that do not have even a one tenth of such a huge store, you may guess how we felt like “children at Disney” and bought a trunk full of clothes, accessories and things I still do not know how to use.

We were very keen to try all we bought, but we had two little problem. One is, it was hot like hell in the beginning of July in Athens and second we did not have our clubs with us.

Of course these did not avoid us to give it a try, so we went to the University of Georgia Golf Club at a late afternoon time and rent the clubs from the club house. Unfortunately I can not say it was wonderful, because of the hot weather and the rented clubs being very old and used. So after one basket we felt like going to a cool restaurant and enjoy a fine dinner (yes…again).

Next: Etienne in Athens, what we dreamed of after golf.

After a week of golf

We finally returned from our 5 days of golf holiday in Belek. We had a great time, lots of sunshine, with lots of golfing and a nice stay in MaxxRoyal hotel.

However, although it has been nearly 4 years now, since we started this golf thing, we still are not good enough to have a handicap card. Very very upset about it. Still taking lessons, to improve our swings and still any two of our hits are not he same. Some balls prefer to go right, some to left, but very rarely to where we target.

Our hotel  MaxxRoyal had a very nice golfing area named Montgomary. But since our trainer was in Carya, we drove to Carya Golf Club, everyday. For 2 hours in the mornings, we did some practice at driving range, some pitching and chipping. After lunch we started to play 9-hole, but very rarely we all could finish it, as each hole takes more than half an hour for three of us to get to green.

Not-so-fancy scorecards

Not-so-fancy scorecards

Decision number 1: We still have  lots of room for improvement

Decision number 2: 6-hours- a -day of golfing, is not enough not to gain weight.

The cost of this holiday to me is 1,5 kg of extra weight. might this be the reason?

On our final day, we only had the morning to play golf, so we visited the golf club of our hotel, and hit 2 baskets at driving range.

Good morning from our hotel room. we are off to Belek, Antalya for a week of golf. Hope to improve our swings and play 18- hole at least twice, for the first time. My target for 2014 is to have a handicap card finally.

Today we are at Karya golf club

I loved golf today with my son

Nice weather, nice shot

Nice weather, nice shot

We had an exceptionally nice weather here today. So I enjoyed a 9-hole golfing with my dear son, while father preferred to practice at driving range. It took us two and half hours to finish 9-hole, which we think not bad for us. Both of us could do some nice shots, together with a lot of bad ones. Most importantly, my son, finished with the very same ball he started with, while I’ve lost 3 balls, and found 2 new ones instead. Seems that we still need time to start handicaps:-(

Happy New Year

Travel map

Travel map

I wish all my travel lover followers a very happy year with full of travels with friends and families, with loads of photographs to share and lovely memories to remember forever.

This map above is from the wall of our son’s room. If you look closer, you will see pink marks on the places we have been together with him. This year we reached to 20 countries on 4 continents. Our aim is 4 travels every year, two of which, to new countries for our son. My wish list for the coming year is:

1. Maldives (a new country for us all) to enjoy some swimming in winter.

2. Belek/Turkey for a golf holiday in February or March, for a long weekend.

3. Paris in May, third time being in France, but first time in Paris for our son.

4. Somewhere North in June, for a longest day possible, maybe to Moscow or St. Petersburg.

5. UK in summer (a new country for our son), we lived and studied in the UK before our son was born, but we’ve never been there since we returned in 1998. Still hesitating, as you know our love of renting a car and driving, which is the biggest concern of us in the UK.

6. A weekend in one of the Greek islands.

7. Oman for another golf holiday and warm weather in Autumn (A new country for us all)

8. Dubai, in October for a conferance (A new country for us all)

9. Germany (either Nürnberg or Berlin) in December, to visit the Christmas markets.

Oooops, this has been quite a lot. Well, let’s see what life will bring.
